THE PAINTING COLLECTION
of the Romanian Academy is made up of 170
canvases, most of them the works of Romanian
masters of the 19th-20th centuries: Nicolae
Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Nicolae Tonitza,
Nicolae Darascu, Theodor Pallady, Gh.
Patrascu and others. All have been either
donated, some by the artists themselves, or
purchased, and are on permanent display at
the Romanian Academy’s headquarters at 125
Victoria Avenue. |

All the art collections and collections of
antiquities and objects of great cultural
importance of the Romanian Academy will find
conditions of optimum conservation and
display within the two new Academy buildings
currently under construction: The House of
the Academy (Casa Academiei), a modern
facility which will house many of the
research institutes under the tutelage of
the Academy, and the new Academy Library
(Biblioteca Academiei) building. |
