Officially the center interrupts its activity, although individual
scholars continue some of their research.

Prof. Stefan Milcu, the new director, officially restarts the
activity of the institution as the Centre of Anthropological Research.

The Centre extends its activity into biological anthropology,
paleoanthropology and applied medicine.

Cultural anthropology (linguistics, ethnology, philosophy) and demography
are officially incorporated in the Centre's profile.

The Centre becomes the Laboratory of Anthropology within the V. I. Babes
Institute of Human Pathology, maintaining all mentioned sections.

The Centre re-becomes the Anthropological Research Centre, under the
subordination of the Romanian Academy.

Symbolism and religion are incorporated within the area of interest of
cultural anthropology.

The Centre is granted the leading of doctoral research. Ethology (human
behavior) extends the area of interest of biological anthropology.

Human genetics is introduced within the section of Biological

Prof. Dr. Constantin Balaceanu-Stolnici becomes Honorary Director
of the Centre.
